Behind the Books: The Processes Behind the Language Board's Publications
The Danish Language Board acts as a publishing house for a wide range of printed and digital books and periodicals. Which publications does the board give its name to, and what does the publishing process look like towards the finished publication? At this event, the Language Board's various publications are presented and an insight into the underlying workflows will be given. What are we saying though?
Caspar Eric is one of today's best and most committed poets. He made his debut in 2014 with the poetry collection, 7/11, and his poetry is close to his personal history and experiences of being labeled by the disease cerebral palsy. In his works New Balances, 2023 and Crip, 2025, he has depicted with seriousness, anger, humor and indignation the discriminatory language often used about physically challenged people and sheep disabled people.

Are there rules for pronunciation?
Language is the property of everyone, and therefore God and everyone have an attitude towards it — and on what is right and wrong. At the most prescriptive end of the spectrum, one believes that one is right and everything else is wrong, including dialect. It's not that simple, but that doesn't mean that all language is right. It was nuanced by Swedish linguist Ulf Teleman in 1979 by introducing the concepts norm conflict, norm gapandnorm breakdown.

Language Prize 2026
The purpose of the Language Prize is to strengthen the use of the Danish language and to promote and recognise the deliberate use of the language in public and private organisations by identifying role models for linguistic quality and creativity. The Language Prize focuses on the written language in both the private sector and the public sector by recognising and rewarding the good Danish language. We would like to praise the companies, organizations, authorities and institutions that work with the language on a daily basis. Our hope is that their laudable lyrics can inspire others. Language Day 2026, like last year, will be held at the language festival SPROGENSE, which runs from 1 to 2 May 2026. Language prizes are awarded to commendable texts and the writers behind them. It will be a weekend filled with exciting activities that all have the celebration of the many facets of language as a focal point. On Friday, May 1, the Language Awards of the Year will be presented and you will hear inspirational speeches.

Danish for 6000 years
The Danish language is shaped by the people who have spoken it for thousands of years. We see especially in the loanwords how the world of Danes has changed. The lecture takes us from the present to the deepest roots of language. \ \ We all know the Arabic 'shawarma' and English 'stress'. In the Middle Ages, 'trade' was borrowed from Dutch. In the Iron Age 'iron' from Celtic. And in the Bronze Age, 'mare' (that is, in the sense of horse!) borrowed from an Iranian steppe language.
